Fortunately, I was able to find a cheaper alternative on eBay: ' OEM Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 3 Top Cover Palmrest Keyboard Touchpad SN20W85532 ', for under $80, which appears to be in perfect condition. Lenovo's official replacement for 'C-Cover with keyboard, English, Backlight' is over $230. Instead, it's 'plastic-soldered' to the shell of the keyboard, and the recommended approach is to replace the top half of the shell and the keyboard together, as one integrated component. It's not like many other ThinkPads I've had, where you could use a special tool to release the keyboard and lift it out from above. You have to take apart the entire laptop in order to remove the keyboard.
Keyboard replacement on a P1 Gen 3 is an expensive and time-consuming undertaking.
